The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that every interstate
authorized “for hire” Carrier who maintains their own operating authority must
maintain a current BOC -3 form on file with the FMCSA.
What is a BOC-3?
The BOC-3 is a list of R.P.A.’s (Registered Process Agents) for each state, who,
in the event of a legal action being presented against the motor carrier by any
entity from outside the carriers base state, would accept the papers being
served on the carriers behalf and would then forward them to the carrier to who
service is required.
